When Holland America Line’s newest ship the MS Koningsdam debuts in Europe in early 2016 she will also showcase a completely re-imagined culinary experience emphasizing  the cruise line’s evolving  vision for new dining and eatery concepts on board this innovative ship.

The Line has leveraged their culinary chops and creativity and will debut brand-exclusive venues and magnificent food concepts as well as offering appealing new foodie experiences on the Koningsdam. The ship will have several alternative restaurants as well as a main dining room and also a re-designed casual Lido Market with themed serving stations such as the “Breadboard”, “Wild Harvest” and “Distant Lands” presenting great tastes from around the globe. Additionally the popular Culinary Arts Center presented by Food and Wine magazine will be re-imagined  and Master Chef Rudi Sodamin and his team of highly regarded and talented international chefs will ensure that the cuisine on board Koningsdam, the company’s first Pinnacle Class ship will be of the highest caliber.

Deck 2 of the ship will showcase several of the ship’s dining venues along one central promenade and in addition to the Main Dining room which offers two seating dining, guests will find the Culinary Arts Center as well as the renowned Pinnacle Grill and Sel de Mer – the new French seafood brasserie – and intriguing interactive displays presenting icons of the food and wine world.

Another new venue, and a nod to the Line’s rich Dutch history is the whimsical  Grand Dutch Café located on Deck 3 which will offer Dutch-themed snacks and beverages including Heineken beer on tap.

The Culinary Arts Center on Koningsdam will not only be a dedicated shipboard setting for a show kitchen and demonstrations but will  now transform in the evening to offer an immersive farm-to-table experience where chefs prepare simple, artisanal dishes and guests enjoy each course as it is freshly prepared.

A favorite from ms Eurodam and ms Nieuw Amsterdam, Tamarind will bring the flavors  and culinary traditions of Asia on board the vessel and its location on the uppermost deck will provide diners with a stunning panoramic view. Tamarind will also feature an intimate sushi bar with select seating for just seven guests – another first for Koningsdam. There is a nominal dining fee for this experience.
