This year, we invite you to travel deeper into the polar regions, where fewer people have been than on the moon. Explore the depths of the ice without compromising any creature comforts aboard Ponant's brand-new Le Commandant Charcot, the very first hybrid-electric polar exploration ship powered by LNG. The vessel has been designed with the greatest attention to detail in terms of safety and respect for the environment yet complete with the kind of luxury services never before offered in the farthest reaches of the southern and northern hemispheres.

After a face-to-beak meeting with Emperor penguins or stepping foot on the Geographic North Pole, you return to the ship, a cocoon of luxury at the end of the world. The indoor swimming pool, the conservatory, the panoramic restaurant, the Blue Lagoon outdoor restaurant, the Main Lounge, the Observation Lounge, the lobby… Each of the common areas has been designed to both convey French-style of discreet luxury and arouse wonder and amazement. The common thread running through all their designs is the desire to allow the light to penetrate and open everything up to the extraordinary polar landscapes and scenery.

Enjoy a warm drink from the bar and a gourmet meal in the restaurant, take a sauna (alternating between a hot room and a snow room), or take in polar vistas while wading in the ship’s heated Blue Lagoon outdoor pool.

With just 135 staterooms and suites, all with balconies (including 68 suites with their own private terraces), the Le Commandant Charcot is keeping with Ponant's philosophy: to provide a rare and exceptional ambiance for every guest onboard and reinforce the feeling and sense of sailing on a private yacht.

There are four stunning 94 m² (1,011 ft²) split-level suites equipped with private terraces and jacuzzis and the breathtaking 115 m² (1,237 ft²) Suite de l’Armateur (Owner's Suite) features wide sliding glass doors offering stunning panoramic views and opening out onto a 180 m² (1,937 ft²) private terrace.

The Charcot's entry level yet spacious (20 m²) and well equipped accommodation, the Prestige Stateroom, is featured below. All staterooms feature a king-sized bed or two twin beds, private balcony, minibar, satellite TV channels, Bose Bluetooth speaker, safe, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers, top-of-the-line bath products, Wi-Fi, 24-hour room service, and so much more.

Connecting staterooms are available for families and friends wanting to travel together and children are welcomed on board.

Butler service is available in Duplex, Owner's and Privilege Suite accommodations.

Where Can the Le Commandant Charcot Take You?

Go further than ever before to the most remote parts of the legendary White Continent - from the Emperor Penguins of West Antarctica's Bellingshausen Sea (named in honour of the Russian admiral and explorer who discovered Antarctica in 1820, this sea in the Southern Ocean, covered by ice floe most of the time, is hard to reach and practically unexplored), to Charcot & Peter I Islands (named by Captain Charcot in memory of his father and Peter Island, a small volcanic island on which only a very few people have set foot and whose summit remains untouched to this day), the Ross Sea (partially occupied by the Ross Ice Shelf, the largest ice platform in Antarctica, this immense bay located hundreds of kilometeres from the South Pole, is considered as “the last ocean”, the last intact marine ecosystem and the largest marine sanctuary in the world), the Weddell Sea and the Larsen Ice Shelf (mostly frozen by a thick and compressed ice floe).

Head up north and embark on a once-in-a-lifetime exploration to the geographic North Pole. Journey through the famous Northwest Passage or discover the Arctic paradise of Northeast Greenland National Park where polar bears reign supreme. The scenery in this part of the world is simply spectacular. Icebergs, sea ice and volcanic mountain landscapes extend as far as the eye can see.

Push the limits of sailing with an exceptional new 16-day expedition cruise to the Geographic North Pole. To reach this mythical point covered by ice floe all year round, 700 km away from any emerged land, you will set sail from Spitzbergen, enjoying an unforgettable maritime experience at the heart of sumptuous landscapes that are constantly evolving according to changes in the ice and the light. This itinerary, which lends itself perfectly to the observation of the wildlife, will take you as far as the pack ice. Then you will slowly progress to the heart of this silent world, frozen by the extreme cold, in the direction of the Grail of all polar explorers: the North Pole!

As the ice floe is constantly drifting, driven together by currents and winds, you too must keep moving if you want to remain on our planet’s most northernmost point…
