MSC Cruises’ Northern Pearls itinerary will allow you to explore some of Europe’s most popular cities during the less busy months, all in one convenient trip. Sail roundtrip from the elegant German city of Hamburg, admire the picture perfect canals of Amsterdam with its stunning 16th century architecture, continue on to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge, your gateway to the picturesque UNESCO World Heritage city of Bruges, one of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities or Brussels, Belgium’s capital city, where skyscrapers and hotels have modernized the skyline. Travel to France’s romantic capital city Paris from the port of Le Havre or immerse yourself in London or ancient Stonehenge from the port of Southampton. MSC Cruises gives you time to explore each city to the fullest, with extended port stays of up to 12 hours. There’s lots to do at sea too, with a great range of entertainment and superb menus to enjoy.
November 2022 to April 2023 departing from Hamburg, Germany
Hamburg will fascinate you from the moment you first set eyes on its elegant and austere buildings looking onto the port, one of the largest in Europe. It is a cosmopolitan, wealthy and fashionable city, with an aggressive economy, that still prides itself in the title “free Hanseatic city”.
Zeebrugge/Bruges, Belgium - Bruges’ museums hold some of the country’s finest collections of Flemish art, and its intimate, winding streets, woven around the city's narrow canals and lined with gorgeous ancient buildings, tell the tale of the city's past.
Rotterdam/Amsterdam, Netherlands - Your MSC cruise will lay anchor in the largest seaport in the world, Rotterdam, nicknamed "The Gateway to Europe" and Netherland's second largest city dating back to 1270, when a dam was built in the river Rotte. Among the most interesting attractions to enjoy is Rotterdam’s Kunsthal, the museum of contemporary art, and the Boijmans van Beuningen
Museum, which has an outstanding art collection including
representative works from almost all the most important Dutch painters:
both are in the city’s designated culture zone, the Museumpark. An optional shore excursion to Amsterdam gives you the opportunity to explore the capital's artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and its narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city's 17th century Golden Age.
Le Havre/Paris, France - the country’s second-largest port, takes up half the Seine estuary. The town itself, is a place of pilgrimage for fans of contemporary architecture of post-war architect, Auguste Perret, whose motto was "concrete is beautiful". Shore excursions from Le Havre will take you to Rouen, capital of Upper Normandy, or Paris.
Southampton/London, England - retaining some of its medieval charm in parts and reinventing itself as a twenty-first century shopping centre in others, with the giant glass-and-steel West Quay as its focus, the thousand-year old city of Southampton has a lot to offer. Alternatively, choose to explore the capital city of London and its great historical landmarks.
