Seven new voyages for Heritage Discoverer's 2027-2028 maiden season

Pioneering small-ship expedition cruise company Heritage Expeditions has added seven new voyages to its coveted sailing schedule following the release of new ship Heritage Discoverer's maiden 2027-28 season.

Formerly known as Silver Explorer, Heritage Discoverer's highly-anticipated 2027-28 season sees the New Zealand-based family-owned and operated cruise company resume its renowned High Arctic and Antarctic Peninsula adventures, as well as adding exciting explorations of the European and Atlantic coasts to its expedition calendar.

Heritage Expeditions owners and Directors Aaron and Nathan Russ described the industry-leading cruise company's new vessel and release of carefully curated itineraries as a pivotal moment in the company's 40-plus year history.

"This is the beginning of a new era, and the arrival of a truly global expedition cruise offering for Heritage Expeditions and our guests," said Nathan.

Aaron agreed.

Century Cruises is expanding its portfolio to Egypt, introducing its first Nile River cruise itineraries for the 2027 season. The announcement marks the company's latest milestone following more than 30 years of operating luxury river cruises on China's Yangtze River and its recent expansion into Europe. The move into Egypt follows years of planning and growing demand from returning guests looking to experience another of the world's great rivers.

New horizons for the luxury fleet
The luxury ships EUROPA and EUROPA 2 continue to showcase destinations that larger vessels cannot easily access.

In February 2027, EUROPA will debut a 29-day voyage from Valparaiso to San Francisco, linking South, Central and North America across eight countries, from Peru and Costa Rica to a dramatic arrival beneath San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

In 2028, the ship will also offer its first in-depth exploration of the Philippines across two consecutive cruises, featuring 13 calls at 10 ports, including the premiere visit to Mantigue Island. The voyages highlight everything from Manila to remote islands accessible only to smaller ships.

Expedition cruises on new discovery routes
The expedition ships HANSEATIC nature, HANSEATIC inspiration and HANSEATIC spirit continue to expand their offerings with new routes designed for small-ship exploration.

For the first time, HANSEATIC nature will spend the 2027/28 winter season in the Indian Ocean, exploring Madagascar, the Seychelles and Mauritius. Its shallow draft allows access to remote islands and protected atolls, where guests can enjoy Zodiac cruises, guided walks, snorkeling and expert-led wildlife experiences.

Polar exploration remains central to the fleet, with three new 14-day voyages in early 2028 dedicated entirely to South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula, providing a shorter yet immersive Antarctic experience.

In summer 2027, HANSEATIC inspiration will become the only cruise ship to combine all five Great Lakes with the St. Lawrence River on a single voyage. Holland America Line announced Zuiderdam as the next ship in its Holland America Evolution program, bringing signature Pinnacle Class experiences as part of the line’s largest fleet update in its 153-year history. Holland America Line is expanding opportunities for guests to experience Norway's dramatic fjord landscapes in 2027, updating five cruises aboard Rotterdam to include calls to Flåm and Hellesylt. The additions give travelers more access to some of Norway’s most sought-after fjord destinations, including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nærøyfjord and Storfjorden — the gateway to Geirangerfjord. Holland America Line, a leader in destination-rich travel and personalized service, is opening its 2027–2028 Caribbean season with a range of itineraries designed to give guests more ways to explore the region — from quick five- and six-day getaways to longer voyages that spend more time in port than any other cruise line sailing the Caribbean. Nearly every itinerary includes a call at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, the line’s award-winning private island.

Sailing October 2027 through March 2028, the season includes 29 itineraries across 47 departures, visiting 35 ports in 25 countries and territories throughout the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean, as well as the Panama Canal. RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay is included on nearly every Caribbean itinerary and is being enhanced with new offerings that elevate the private island experience. A new beach club features waiter service, priority tendering, exclusive food and beverage options, and upgraded seating, along with indoor and outdoor spaces with ship views.

Guests will also find a refreshed Lobster Shack, island-exclusive menu items and new beverage experiences including Aperol spritz tricycles and Bacardi beach buggies. Holland America Denali Lodge $70-Million Enhancements on Track for 2027

The multi-year investment will elevate the Cruisetour experience with upgraded accommodations, expanded dining experiences and outdoor improvements.

Holland America Line is on track to complete the series of major enhancements at its Holland America Denali Lodge property in time for the 2027 Cruisetour season, which is open for booking. The $70 million multi-year investment is underway with many upgrades already finished. The project will expand guest capacity while deepening the immersive connection between Alaska cruising and overland exploration through Denali National Park.

In 2027, Holland America Line will offer a series of 19 Cruisetour options from May to September, ranging from nine to 17 nights. The itineraries combine a three- to seven-night Alaska cruise with an overland journey to Denali National Park and Canada’s Yukon Territory. Every Cruisetour visits the park and includes a one- to three-night stay at Holland America Denali Lodge.

The diverse set of itineraries allows guests to decide the order of their journey - if they want to cruise or go overland first - and those who want to extend their travels can choose an itinerary that takes them to Canada’s Yukon Territory, including stops in Whitehorse and Dawson City. Holland America Line remains the only cruise line to take guests into the heart of the Yukon.

The $70-Million Investment Enhancements

Day 6: Xi'an
Visit the eighth wonder of the world: the Terracotta Warriors, discovered in the tomb of Qin Shi Huangdi, the First Emperor of China. Admire the estimated 8,000 life-sized warriors, archers and infantry, as well as terracotta horses and wooden chariots, buried with him. It is worth noting that each person and horse are molded with their own unique features. The incredible archaeological site was discovered by local farmers in 1974. In the afternoon, guests will visit the Oye Goose Pagoda, a 1370-year-old Buddhist landmark, housing the original Sanskrit scriptures and statues brought from India. Day 12: Shanghai
Start your day in Lujiazui, the glittering financial and commercial heart of Shanghai, directly across the river from the historic Bund. Enjoy the modern skyscraper landscape and the Oriental Pearl Tower, a futuristic TV tower built in 1994. Next, head to Nanjing Road, a 5.5km long shopping and pedestrian avenue stretching from the Bund to Jing’an Temple.
