The ship will undergo a two-week dry dock from November 16–30, 2028, as Azamara Cruises continues its fleetwide renovation program
Azamara Cruises, the global leader in Destination Immersion®, will continue the rollout of Azamara Forward, its most extensive fleetwide renovation program to date, with enhancements aboard Azamara Journey in November 2028. The ship is scheduled to enter a two-week dry dock from November 16–30, 2028, receiving a series of upgrades designed to further elevate the onboard guest experience. Azamara Forward encompasses a range of enhancements across the fleet, bringing renewed energy to onboard dining, entertainment, and social spaces while preserving the intimate atmosphere that defines Azamara’s small-ship experience.
Planned upgrades include a reimagined Discoveries Restaurant, a dedicated Chef’s Table experience, a new Atlas Bar offering, a transformed Cabaret Lounge, a complete refresh to Azamara’s Sanctum Spa, updates to staterooms and suites, and enhancements to public spaces throughout the ship. The program also introduces new opportunities for guests to connect over exceptional food, entertainment, and shared experiences at sea. As previously announced, the Penthouse Deck will remain exclusive to Azamara Quest and will not be added to Azamara Journey.
“We’re continually looking for ways to elevate the Azamara experience while staying true to what our guests love most about sailing with us,” said Dondra Ritzenthaler, CEO of Azamara Cruises. “Azamara Forward allows us to thoughtfully refresh our ships, creating inviting spaces for guests to connect, enjoy exceptional dining and entertainment, and feel at home between the incredible destinations they discover with us. We look forward to bringing these updates to Azamara Journey and welcoming guests aboard to experience them firsthand.”

The upcoming dry dock represents another important milestone in Azamara’s ongoing investment in its fleet, building on the initial rollout of Azamara Forward aboard Azamara Quest and the planned enhancements aboard Azamara Onward in 2027. Through these renovations, Azamara continues to refine its onboard experience while maintaining its focus on destination-rich itineraries, personalized service, and immersive travel.
Following its dry dock, Azamara Journey will debut its enhancements on November 30, 2028, departing Athens, Greece, on a 12-night Greece and Egypt itinerary. The sailing will return to Athens, offering guests the opportunity to experience the ship’s refreshed onboard spaces while exploring destinations across the Eastern Mediterranean. Additional details about the sailing and booking availability will be shared in the coming weeks as Azamara opens its upcoming deployment for sale.
The Azamara Forward program is already underway, with Azamara Quest set to debut its own enhancements following dry dock in November 2026. The ship’s debut sailing after its renovation is scheduled to depart on December 18, 2026, marking the first milestone in the fleetwide program.
