Luxury ship to debut updated interiors, contemporary color palettes and custom-designed furnishings
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will refurbish approximately 250 suites aboard its luxury ship EUROPA 2 during a scheduled dry dock in Singapore from January 9–23, 2027. The updates will introduce new color palettes, textiles, furnishings and lighting while preserving the ship’s signature contemporary elegance.
Following the redesign of the ship’s two Grand Penthouse Suites two years ago, the upcoming refurbishment will focus on the Veranda, Ocean, Grand Ocean, Penthouse and Owner Suites. Working with Hamburg-based interior design studio CUBIK³, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will incorporate natural materials, softer textures and refined design elements throughout the accommodations.
“The architecture and design of the EUROPA 2 are of exceptional quality and are highly contemporary,” said Lisa Wilken, Head of Luxury Cruises at Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. “That’s why this dry-dock stay is less about change and more about refinement. Many of the alterations have been deliberately kept subtle, yet their effect will be clearly noticeable.”
The Veranda and Penthouse Suites will feature mint-green hues and subtle coral accents, while Ocean and Grand Ocean Suites will embrace shades of blue and gray with warm brown tones inspired by the sea. The spacious 1,065-square-foot Owner Suites will receive updated furnishings, round dining tables and new lighting by German manufacturer GRAU.
A highlight of the refurbishment is the installation of approximately 250 custom-designed sofas by German furniture manufacturer COR, continuing a longstanding partnership with Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. Additional enhancements include reupholstered armchairs and new seating throughout select public spaces. Furniture being replaced will be donated to a charitable organization in Singapore.
Accommodating up to 500 guests, EUROPA 2 is known for its spacious, all-veranda suites, contemporary design and nearly 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio. The refurbishment reflects Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ continued commitment to delivering an exceptional luxury experience at sea.
