There's a softness in the air in Marbella, Spain - a gentle warmth that invites you to bask and be rejuvenated. And there's no better place to find that rejuvenation than at Los Monteros Spa and Golf Resort.

You'll start to decompress the moment you step into the airy lobby.  Part seaside resort and part formal hotel, Los Monteros has an atmosphere that exudes welcome. Though you're able to stroll to your room along inside corridors, the life of Los Monteros is definitely outdoors. Walkways wind through a lush garden, bursting with blossoms. A brook sparkles under small bridges and, if you stand still long enough, you'll see frogs leaping onto the lily pads while tiny birds flutter in for their baths.

The rooms are simple but comfortable with all the comforts you’d expect in an upscale hotel – from the well-appointed bathroom to the airy balcony – but you won’t be spending much time there. If you’re not finishing your day with a dinner served under the stars at the poolside restaurant while you enjoy live entertainment, you’ll be up early, golfing at one of the more than 20 top notch courses in Marbella, on what is coming to be known as Spain’s Costa del Golf. Not your game? Then find yourself an ultra-indulgent beach bed by the sea at La Cabane, the elegant beach club that caters to the guests of Los Monteros. A golf cart takes you down the winding streets leading to the ocean where a white pavilion opens onto a patio of beach beds, each draped in white gauze. Soft-voiced servers come by with trays of cold drinks and skewers of fresh fruit while you loll, gaze at the water and wonder about dipping a toe in the ocean. I did but to be honest, it wasn’t long before I was back, bronzing on my sun bed.

This winter, when the winds are howling, I know I’ll be dreaming of La Cabane and planning my return to Los Monteros. Who’d blame me?
