A new World Class ship, a constellation of Caribbean islands and the art of travelling beautifully
There is a certain romance to island-hopping by sea, a particular pleasure in waking to a new island each day. Beyond the ship, the Caribbean shimmers in shades of turquoise and sapphire; ashore, a new landscape is waiting to be discovered. One day, it may be the French-inflected elegance of Martinique. The next, the emerald mountains of Saint Lucia or the spice-scented air of Grenada. By evening, there is the quiet luxury of returning to a beautifully appointed ship, where dinner, cocktails and the open sea provide their own kind of destination. For winter 2027–28, that ship will be MSC World Asia, MSC Cruises’ newest World Class vessel, bringing a distinctly contemporary take on Caribbean cruising to the French Antilles and Southern Caribbean.

MSC World Asia arrives in the Antilles in November 2027, offering travellers the chance to combine the pleasures of a brand-new ship with an itinerary that embraces some of the Caribbean's most captivating islands. The seven-night voyages provide an elegant introduction to the Southern Caribbean, while the longer 14-night journeys invite guests to slow down and immerse themselves more deeply in the region. There is more time for long lunches, unhurried walks, hidden beaches and spontaneous discoveries. Rather than simply ticking islands off a list, guests can settle into the particular rhythm of each place. With embarkation available from Fort-de-France, Martinique; Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe; and Bridgetown, Barbados, the experience can begin in distinctly different corners of the Caribbean. Ultimately, the appeal is not simply the number of islands visited, nor the impressive scale of the ship. It is the sense of continuity between the two: the discovery of somewhere new each morning, followed by the pleasure of returning to familiar surroundings each evening.

A new island. A different horizon. A beautifully considered space in which to watch the sun disappear. The day's excursions give way to cocktails and dinner. Somewhere above the ship, music begins. The horizon turns from gold to rose to deep blue. It is in these moments that the distinction between transportation and travel becomes clear. The journey itself becomes part of the pleasure.
Beginning a cruise in Fort-de-France or Pointe-à-Pitre (7-night voyages) or Barbados (for 14-night cruises) means these islands can become more than fleeting stops on an itinerary. They are part of the story from the very beginning and guests have the opportunity to extend their stay there before or after their cruise. The itineraries are as varied as the islands themselves, with calls that can include Castries in Saint Lucia, St. George’s in Grenada, Philipsburg in St. Maarten, St. John’s in Antigua and Barbuda, Basseterre in Saint Kitts and Nevis, Roseau in Dominica and Kingstown in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Rather than simply moving from beach to beach, the experience becomes a journey through the many personalities of the Caribbean - its cuisine, architecture, landscapes and cultures - while the ship provides an elegant constant throughout.
The luxury of the journey itself
Yet the true distinction of MSC World Asia may be what happens when the ship leaves the harbour. Scheduled to launch in December 2026 in the Mediterranean, MSC World Asia is the latest addition to MSC Cruises’ World Class fleet. The ship will offer more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, creating an extraordinary variety of settings in which to dine, drink and unwind. The scale is impressive, but it is the choice that changes the experience.
One evening might call for an elegant cocktail overlooking the ocean; another for an intimate dinner followed by live entertainment. A leisurely sea day can be spent between the pool deck, a restaurant and one of the ship's many lounges, with no particular destination required. There are also experiences designed to bring a little theatre to life at sea. Cliffhanger, an over-water swing attraction, adds a sense of adventure, while the ship will feature what MSC describes as its largest Venchi chocolate experience at sea - an indulgence that seems particularly well suited to slow afternoons and after-dinner temptations. The result is a ship that is intended to be experienced, not merely occupied.

Five new spaces for the perfect aperitivo - and everything after
MSC Cruises has unveiled five new concepts for MSC World Asia, each offering a distinctly different interpretation of how guests might spend an evening or simply pause between adventures. The Terraces Bar & Lounge feels made for the Caribbean sunset. Drawing on the Italian tradition of aperitivo, the venue pairs panoramic ocean views with Negronis, Aperol Spritzes, prosecco and wine, accompanied by simple Italian pleasures such as focaccia and olives. It is the sort of setting where a single drink can effortlessly become an entire evening. At Sky Box Bar, the mood is more theatrical. Located within the Luna Park Arena and inspired by the Futurist movement of the early 20th century, the intimate cocktail venue brings together premium drinks and mixology theatrics. It is a natural choice before a show - or for those who prefer their nightcap with a little drama.

Coral Cove Bar, meanwhile, takes its inspiration from the coral reefs of the Philippines. Situated by the pool, it is designed for the relaxed pleasures of a Caribbean afternoon: sunshine, water and a refreshing drink without anywhere else to be. At Pan Asian Bar, the flavours travel farther afield. Part of MSC World Asia’s new Pan Asian Street Food concept, the bar serves Asian-inspired creations including Jasmine Mojitos, Rose and Strawberry Daiquiris and Matcha Coladas, alongside beers from across Asia and a specially created draught beer, “Oceanic Asian.”
And then there is Clubhouse & Soda Bar, a more playful addition designed around families and friends. Guests can create their own non-alcoholic sodas with different bases, syrups, cream and toppings, while games, interactive digital tables, LEGO and bumper cars add an element of nostalgia and fun. Together, the five venues create something more nuanced than a traditional collection of shipboard bars. They offer a succession of moods and rituals—from the Italian aperitivo to the theatrical cocktail, the poolside refreshment and the playful family gathering.

For winter 2027–28, MSC World Asia offers a new way to experience the Antilles - one in which the destination is extraordinary, but the journey is equally worth savouring.
