NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade

An elegant, centrally-located hotel

NH Collection is a prevalent name in European cities, and in Lisbon, you’ll find the NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade, named for its location on tree-lined Avenida da Liberdade in the Baixa District. This is the heart of the haute couture shopping district, yet the hotel is tucked away unpretentiously from the bustling street, and a stay here won’t break the bank. The hotel is less than six kilometres from the Lisbon airport, and the waterfront is one-and-a-half kilometres away. If you’re not in the mood to tackle Lisbon’s hilly streets, there’s a metro station directly across the street, and the Rossio train station is a five minute walk. The cozy lobby and bar is a delightful space to relax and enjoy a beverage, from specialty coffees and soft drinks to wine, cocktails, and artisanal beer. We love the Guest Relations desk, which is separate from the check-in counter and attended daily by a staff member who will provide recommendations for dining, entertainment, and activities, as well as make the necessary reservations. Its 83 contemporary rooms and suites - some with views and terraces – are tastefully decorated in neutral colours, and there are family-sized options that sleep up to five. Minibars, coffee and tea, high-speed Wi-Fi, personal safes, and hairdryers are standard features. Suites accommodate up to three, and additional amenities include  bathrobes and slippers. 

The hotel’s pride and joy is the 11th floor Atico rooftop (open May to September), the place to be after a day of sightseeing. Take a dip in the outdoor pool or put your feet up and sip a delicious cocktail while taking in the 360˚ city views (Ask for a drink made with Sharish gin, distilled in Portugal’s Alentejo region). The bar also serves light bites, perfect for lingering over while admiring the sunset, the orange tiled rooftops, and the Tagus River beyond. The onsite Restaurante do Teatro serves a buffet breakfast and á la carte meals, but the Baixa District is replete with dining options, all steps from the hotel. Whether you’re here for business or pleasure, NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade will make a well-rounded home base.
