An interlude in Budapest Skybar
As you enter the calm, musically-inspired and delightful haven of the boutique Aria Hotel, in in central Budapest, close to St Stephen's Basilica and the pedestrian shopping streets, you must prepare to be charmed.
The Aria is well-named as the whole, historic property – formerly a palace – is dedicated to and inspired by music. There are just 49 utterly stunning, spacious rooms, named after different artists, with each wing reached by a corner elevator. Room designs come in four distinctive styles inspired by Jazz (Olive), Classical (Turquoise), Opera (Orchid) and Contemporary (White with a pop of Orange) music.
As we discovered our gorgeously designed Aria Signature Room in the Opera section, music gently wafted to our third-fl oor retreat with an open-air balcony overlooking the charming Music Garden glass-covered courtyard. Our room was magnifi cent, with high ceilings, great lighting and a contemporary yet warm and gracious décor, with every feature anyone could need. The King bed was supremely comfortable, and the furnishings included a loveseat and bistro table with chairs, ample closet space and a large smart TV. The bathroom had a chandelier, heated towel racks, robes, a separate tub and a shower featuring Molton Brown amenities. There was also a Nespresso machine, included Wi-Fi with an iPad in the room, free water and a nightly turndown service complete with chocolates.
As you enter the hotel you can't help but be entranced by the Music Garden lounge with its black and white polished fl oor designed to replicate piano keys, impressive fl ower displays and colourful seating. A pianist performs most days from 4 to 6 pm and this pleasant room off ers complimentary daily wine and cheese service reminiscent of a Palm Court. It's very popular, as you can imagine!
The Aria also off ers a complimentary breakfast buffet and a lower-level spa with a pool, jacuzzi, saunas, steam room, gym and treatment rooms. Enjoy the stunning year-round multi-level roof garden with 360-degree panoramic views of Budapest's skyline, where you can have dinner or sip cocktails at the hip High Note Skybar. Culinary experiences include Café Liszt with its thoughtfully curated menu serving modern Hungarian and international dishes, a small library, and a café/bar off ering the tastiest macarons and other treats.
Top-notch service is yours at every level, ensuring continuous comfort and the entire hotel exudes a rich, lavish feel with its colourful surroundings. It's THE place to stay in Budapest.
