For travellers eager to start planning their next big getaway, Emerald Cruises has released their 2022 European River Cruise Preview brochure highlighting an extensive collection of river cruise itineraries and related land packages. In addition to their classic collection of sailings along Europe’s most picturesque rivers, Emerald Cruises is offering an array of new immersive experiences for 2022, including an extended city stay in historic Amsterdam on a range of Rhine itineraries; a special, once-in-a-decade excursion to Amsterdam’s Floriade Horticulture Expo; and festive five-day Christmas market cruises on the Rhine, Danube and Rhône rivers.
Highlights of the 2022 season include:
Extend your cruise with a selection of city stays
For those who like to explore independently and are looking to immerse themselves in some of Europe’s most fascinating cities, Emerald Cruises’ city stays can be added to most sailing itineraries. New for 2022, Amsterdam joins Berlin, Prague, Paris, and Madrid on the list of cities that can be added to the beginning or end of a river cruise. On select departures for ‘Splendours of Europe’ and ‘Jewels of the Rhine’ itineraries, guests can now extend the trip with two-nights in a centrally located hotel in the heart of Amsterdam, just a short walk away from its artistic heritage, picturesque canals, and modern art museums. Guests will enjoy breakfast daily and transfers to and from the airport. 10-day Jewels of The Rhine including Amsterdam itineraries start at just $3,840 CAD per person and 17-day Splendours of Europe including Amsterdam itineraries start at just $6,595 CAD per person.
Visit the once-in-a-decade Floriade Horticulture Expo
In 2022, guests on select Rhine sailings and Amsterdam city stays will have the chance to visit the Floriade Horticulture Expo, which takes place in Holland every 10 years between April and October. Set in an extraordinary park in Amsterdam where the Dutch horticulture industry presents its latest trends and developments to the rest of the world, Floriade is a must visit destination for gardeners and horticulture lovers. Guests can experience the 40 inspiring country presentations, a spectacular greenhouse complex, a cable car over the Floriade park, pavilions with sustainable innovations and a vibrant arts and culture program. The eight-day Springtime Delights itinerary, which also pays a visit to the famed Keukenhof Gardens during the tulip bloom, is available from $4245 CAD per person.
Five-day Christmas market cruises
Christmas market cruises allow for the unique opportunity to visit a new market each day without lifting a finger. Emerald Cruises has increased its portfolio of Christmas market river cruises in 2022 with a selection of five-day itineraries on the Danube, Rhine and for the first time, the Rhône, to appeal to those looking for a shorter Christmas-time getaway. On the five-day ‘Christmas in Southern France’ river cruise, guests take a festive journey through medieval southern France, visiting markets large and small and feasting on traditional fare while witnessing Christmas traditions in true Provincial style. The five-day Christmas in France sailing is available starting at $1,945 CAD per person.
Guests booking their 2022 European river cruise by May 16, 2021 will receive a savings of $3,000 per couple, and guests booking a suite on the Horizon Deck will receive a €150 on-board credit per person. Plus, those who book by February 28, 2021 and pay in full 12 months in advance of departure date receive a limited-time Super Earlybird savings of an additional 10% off the cruise portion only (does not apply to Category D/E or ES cabins), As with all Emerald Cruises sailings, all daily excursions, meals, gratuities, port charges, ship transfers and wine and beer with dinner and lunch as included in the price of the sailing.
In addition, all bookings come with the line’s flexible booking policy that allows guests to defer travel plans and transfer to an alternate departure date or itinerary up to 60 days prior to departure with no Emerald Cruises fees. The Deposit Protection Plan (value $125 per person) is a complimentary inclusion in all bookings, and allows guests flexibility with their travel dates without having to worry about losing their deposits.
